Line supervisors

The term line supervisors is usually reserved for the manager or leader to whom the impacted individuals/roles directly roll up. It can and often does also include the next layer up in the organization’s hierarchy if/when that person/role has a close relationship with the impacted person/role.

Line supervisors are frequently recruited—if only by organizational placement—to be coaches for impacted individuals. Their support is always required and is never to be simply assumed just because somebody higher up in their organization is on board.
